St. Joseph’s Capital Campaign 2012

Q:      What percentage of the funds raised will go to the facility improvement projects?

Answer:  100%. All creative design for the DVD and printed materials, production of campaign materials, supplies, and postage are being donated by members of the Campaign Committee. Committee volunteers are dedicated to seeing the maximum amount of funds invested in the necessary capital improvements.

Q:      In what order will the projects be completed?

Answer:   Projects will be prioritized by the Parish Council, Finance Council, and Board of Education as funds accumulate, according to the most urgent repairs needed.

Q:      How much of the 2010 Diocesan Campaign funds came back to St. Joe's for facility projects?

Answer:   20% of our campaign goal and 50% of all pledges beyond our goal were returned to be used for improvements at St. Joe’s. A total of $61,424 was returned by the Diocese.

Q:      How was that money spent?

Answer:   Those funds were spent on tuckpointing the church, new carpeting in the gathering space and Harness Hall, and on security improvements in the church and school.

Q:      Why did the carpet wear out in the new addition so soon?

Answer:   The carpet purchased at that time was lower-cost and lower-quality to meet the strict budget of the building project at that time and it has seen a lot of use in the common areas that need new carpeting. Replacement carpet will be installed in square tiles, repairs can be made in sections instead of an entire room. A higher commercial-grade carpet will be used. As one volunteer said, “we learned our lesson.”

Q:      How efficient will the new boiler be?

Answer:   The proposed system includes two natural gas fired hot water boilers with an 88% efficiency rating.

Q:      Will we seek grants to help fund projects?

Answer:   Once campaign monies start to accumulate, we will ask the School Grants Committee to seek appropriate grants using some of the campaign donations as seed money (required matching funds) to help complete projects. Often, school improvements are eligible for grants, while church renovations do not qualify.

Q:      How can others – former parishioners or school alumni – learn about the campaign?

Answer:   The Faith in Our Future Campaign video is posted on YouTube. Go to www.youtube.com and search “Faith in our Future” to see the video. The video is linked from our parish website.
